Pebble Beach
“Sarah Beara!”
my mom called,” Want to go for a drive in Pebble Beach?”
“I guess so,” I declared back to her,
It was around five o’clock, and we were both very bored at the time so we would
rather do anything than stay here at home. Since I was five at the time, this
was even more so.
We got in the car and drove to the Pebble Beach gate’ they greeted us with the
regular greeting, and we paid the small fee to get in and decided to drive the
17 mile drive. On the drive it was very magnificent, all the trees were huge
compared to me, the houses were all pretty and special in there own way. The
people who live in Pebble Beach were scary, rich and probably had one or more
homes. Clint Eastwood even lives their! The forest is very protected and there
are about four golf courses there. I think very many of them are private.
My mom asked,” isn’t this fun?”
“Yes” I said meekly, “this is very impressive, all the hoses are massive and,
its fun to look at them”
We decided that the fun was over, and we should be going home now. Unfortunately,
we couldn’t find the way out! We kept driving around for about thirty minutes,
trying to get out Pebble Beach. It was around 6:30 P.M. we saw a store, maybe
the lodge, that was open and we asked for directions. They were very confusing
directions but we tried to follow them. It didn’t work. I was very scared, afraid
that we might be lost in this maze of trees forever. Its pitch black at night
in Pebble Beach there are no street lights. I was almost crying. My mother was
getting nervous too. It was around 7:30 when we saw a person on a night walk
and asked for directions again. We followed those, and five minutes later we
found the exit. We were very happy, relived to be out of the forest and going
home.
I learned a lesson that day; it was not to drive in a place that’s not very
familiar to you at night. I still look at maps a lot when were somewhere new.
My mom still doesn’t like to drive at night. I also think that it’s a lesson
that a lot of people have to learn.
